MyPocketSkill has secured new funding from Innovate UK, the UK’s Innovation Agency, to support the development and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions in the UK government’s priority sectors including the creative industries. The project will enable the digital platform to upskill thousands of young people and help them deliver creative and digital projects more productively for small businesses across the UK.
The additional funding will accelerate MyPocketSkill’s transition to an AI-enabled platform for 13- 24 year olds looking for paid work opportunities. It will provide copilot assistance to the thousands of young people using MyPocketSkill every day, providing smarter matching with clients, project scheduling and content creation.
Matthew Harker, Co-CEO and Co-Founder, said "This award from Innovate UK will enable us to forge more efficient and productive working relationships between our young digital creatives and the small businesses they work with. Kirill, a student and social media manager at MyPocketSkill said “An AI-enabled project scheduler could be a game changer for me and the small businesses I work with. It would help set clear expectations around deliverables and keep us on track to execute the social media strategy for the client. I’d also be interested in any AI functionality that supported me in pitching to new clients to demonstrate my skills.”
Nadira, an Electronic Engineering student and social media manager at MyPocketSkill said “AI has really evolved since I’ve been studying and I’m really excited to see how a social media manager and blogger like myself could use it for ideas generation. As a creative person, I’m passionate about bringing my own ideas to the table when it comes to content creation but I can see myself using it for ideas generation and can certainly see how it would be useful for young people starting out.”
Maryam, a Computer Science student and social media manager at MyPocketSkill said “An AI-powered matching service would ensure potential clients are provided with the most suitable recommendations of young people on the platform - those with the exact skills and experience the client is looking for so my pitches are more likely to be successful. Using AI to help generate content ideas would help me when I hit a creativity block and help me see things from a different perspective. I think any businesses moving forward should consider using AI to their advantage because as we have seen AI has changed the game and is here to stay!
The copilot project will launch in April 2024 and our AI-enabled platform will be developed during the course of 2024.
